Romaero puts Romanian talent on global stage

With one of the largest civil and military aircraft maintenance repair stations in Europe, Romaero stands out as a strong example of Romania’s industrial aptitude

In 2020 Romaero will mark 100 years of history, but recent years have already been paved with milestones for the Romanian aerospace and defense company.

Romaero, which operates in the commercial aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) sector is already the dedicated MRO agent for the country’s premier airline, Blue Air, and has just concluded its first successful maintenance season with Ryanair.

In 2018, the company also saw big advances in the defense side of its business, signing a landmark agreement with Sikorsky, part of the U.S. Lockheed Martin group, and becoming the only Central European company authorized to work with Black Hawk helicopters. It also entered into a strategic partnership with Israeli defense supplier Rafael regarding air defense and anti-tank missile systems.

Part state-owned and also listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, Romaero is working closely with the Romanian government as it modernizes the nation’s military capabilities.

“Major technological advances are often first seen in the defense and aerospace sectors. As a company striving to become one of Romanian industry’s flagships in Europe, we want to show the high intellectual potential of this country,” said Romaero CEO Remus Vulpescu, adding that the company has recently hired 300 new employees and significantly rejuvenated its workforce.
